Drug and Alcohol Policy

PNSC conforms to the directives of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan which prohibits the use, possession, distribution illegal trafficking, sale and/or purchase of alcohol, drugs, narcotics and other uncontrolled substances on board vessels partly or wholly owned by PNSC and flying the flag of Pakistan.
PNSC vessels shall have zero tolerance to ensure defined maximum level of BAC (Blood Alcohol Contents) zero.


In case of apparent drug and alcohol policy violation, the Corporation thoroughly investigate and consider all relevant data and information. In all cases where personnel manning vessels under Pakistan flag managed by PNSC violate this policy, PNSC shall go to the full extent of applicable laws to:


  • Terminate employment and / or
  • Prosecute in accordance with the National Law.

It is the policy of the Corporation that no seafarer, whatever rank, shall navigate the vessel or operate any equipment while impaired by drugs or alcohol, or, where there is any risk of such impairment. In following this policy, the Corporation:


  1. Carries out random testing once a year of all crew, i.e. Officers and Ratings including Masters, for alcohol abuse before or during the performance of their duties.
  2. Exercises strict control on issue of all substances prescribed for medicinal use on board.
  3. Shall suspend instantly any member of the crew found to have a positive trace in any random testing sample, unless prior notice and authorization for use for medical reason has been provided by the Master of the vessel.
